It's time for us to talk.

I am a proud trade unionist and lifelong member of the IAFF.

In my thirteen years as a firefighter and paramedic, I was privileged to not only serve my community but also serve my union. Though my career responding to emergencies was cut short by a significant on-the-job injury in late 2020, my passion and drive to serve others and protect the interests of professional fire fighters has remained strong.

I've learned from meeting and working with so many union fire fighters and locals over the years. Together, we have worked hard to fight for fair wages, safe working conditions, appropriate benefits, and our labor right to collective bargaining.

Some of you may know me from my time speaking passionately and firmly at our state and international conventions. Perhaps I've worked with your local or state on political or communications issues, assigned through my previous role as the IAFF Strategic Digital Campaigns Specialist.

Or maybe you've been to one of the many classes, seminars, and academies I've taught at across the country over the past decade. We've met at ALTS, Leadership, the Legislative Convention, our IAFF Fallen Fire Fighters Memorial, or at the Communications Training Academy.

However we've met, I hope that you know me as the honest, direct, and passionate union leader that I strive to be.

Now, I'm asking you to join the conversation about the goals, standards, and mission of our union and our future...

I'm asking for your support, endorsement, and vote to be your next IAFF General President.

Since 2018 I have had the unique vantage point to see the inside of our international union's operations from the technical standpoint of a contractor but with the access and understanding of an insider. I am an experienced strategic analyst and data-driven decision-maker.

Brothers and sisters, we have to talk.

Last year in Ottawa, many of you heard me say that being a labor leader is hard work. I said that it's not easy to speak up on often unpopular, difficult truths. But it is vital and necessary. Today, our truths are no different.

I have witnessed, watched, and seen first-hand reports that our union needs a change in leadership. We need more accountability and greater transparency, and we need to bring back our commitment and energy to being the international standard bearer for firefighter, member, and employee rights.

Our union's home office cannot be a hotbed of hypocrisy, threats, intimidation, hostile working conditions, unfair labor practices, unethical investments, and harassment. Our IAFF cannot be ground zero for contractors and corporations taking good union jobs from good union members.

You all know me as a driven and strategic thinker, an experienced communicator, and a passionate and tireless advocate for fire fighters, the house of labor, and collective bargaining.

I do not take this announcement lightly.

I realize that I am asking each of you to vet my record and skills. To review my priorities. my plans, and my concerns about the decisions that are being made today that are threatening our members, their interests, and the future of our union.

These are serious issues. Serious matters. But I believe that we are serious people. We are labor leaders, both officially and unofficially.

We are trade unionists.

And we all swore an oath to serve our membership and our IAFF. I'm asking you to make some time to talk, soon. Join me for a difficult but earnest and honest conversation. This isn't the time, nor the place for personal attacks, bullies, threats, or vendettas. Too much is at stake.

Our mission is too critical and our membership too important.

Let's have the talk. Review the data. And get to work.

Join me, in solidarity.
